Membership

The DGEPD welcomes every new member who contributes to bringing its topics and goals to life. The DGEPD explicitly aims to address early-career academics—whether they are pursuing an academic career or wish to stay connected to academia after entering a different profession.

Anyone wishing to join the DGEPD can do so by completing the membership declaration provided below and sending it to the Society’s office. By submitting the application, the future member also acknowledges the statutes of the DGEPD as well as the contents of its data protection policy.

According to Article 6 of the statutes, the Executive Board decides on the admission of new members and informs applicants of its decision. If at least ten members object to the Board’s decision, the next regular General Assembly will decide. The annual membership fee is usually €50. Once the Board has approved the application and the office of the DGEPD has confirmed receipt of the membership fee (bank statement), the membership becomes official. The €50 membership fee includes a subscription to the Jahrbuch Politisches Denken, which has been published since 2004 by Duncker & Humblot (Berlin) and is also available for purchase through regular bookstores.

In addition, donations are always welcome and can be certified by the DGEPD office upon request.

For students, unemployed individuals, members on parental leave, or those in private insolvency, a reduced annual fee of €20 can be granted upon request (please include appropriate documentation with the informal request to the DGEPD office). The reduced membership fee does not include a subscription to the Jahrbuch Politisches Denken.

Membership in the DGEPD is ongoing. Cancellation must be made in writing and submitted to the DGEPD office. It becomes effective at the end of the calendar year, provided a notice period of three months is observed. With the end of membership, the subscription to the Jahrbuch Politisches Denken, which is tied to the full membership fee, also ends.
